Preparation
- Begin by browning your ground beef or turkey in a skillet over medium heat. Ensure it’s fully cooked to guarantee food safety.
- Once the meat is browned, drain off any excess fat and add the meat to your crockpot.
- Next, dump in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, and chili seasoning. If you like a bit of a kick, incorporate the chili powder at this stage.
- Stir everything well to combine. If you prefer a thinner chili, mix in 1/3 cup of water.
- Cover and set your crockpot to low. Allow it to cook for a minimum of 4 hours for fantastic flavors.
Notes
To enjoy your chili, serve with toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or freshly chopped cilantro. Cornbread or tortilla chips are fantastic sides. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days or freeze them for longer storage. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight when ready to reheat. For best results, brown the meat completely to enhance flavor. Prep ingredients the night before for a quicker meal.
