  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced Slice against the grain for tenderness.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Feel free to use pre-chopped for convenience.
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce Use tamari for a gluten-free version.
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Thickens the sauce.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • to taste cooked rice For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Place the sliced beef and broccoli florets into the slow cooker.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, cornstarch, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli in the slow cooker.
  4. Stir to combine and coat the beef and broccoli evenly.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1.5-2 hours.
  6. Serve over cooked rice.

Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle sesame seeds or chopped green onions on top before serving. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days or frozen for a month.
