Ingredients
  

Pasta and Sauce
  • 1 pound ziti pasta Boil until al dente.
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
Cheeses
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Reserve some for layering.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Reserve some for layering.
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by boiling the ziti pasta in a large pot according to package instructions, but aim for al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the drained pasta, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper.
Cooking
  1. Transfer half of the pasta mixture into the crockpot. Sprinkle with half the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  2. Then add the remaining pasta mixture on top. Finish with the rest of the cheeses.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.

Notes

This dish can be customized with different pasta shapes or cheeses. Great for leftovers; store in an airtight container for up to three days or freeze for up to two months. Reheat gently.
