Preparation
- If using meat, brown it in a skillet and drain the fat. Skip this step for a vegetarian option.
Layering
- In your crockpot, start by pouring a thin layer of marinara sauce at the bottom to prevent sticking.
- Add a layer of cooked ziti, followed by a mixture of ricotta, some mozzarella, Italian seasoning, and spices.
- Repeat these layers until you run out of ingredients, finishing with mozzarella on top.
Cooking
- Cover your crockpot and cook on low for about 4–6 hours or on high for about 2–3 hours.
Serving
- Check that the cheese is melted and bubbling before serving.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before enjoying.
Notes
For best flavor, cook ziti al dente. Add fresh herbs or serve with a side salad or garlic bread for enhanced experience.
