Method
 

Preparation
  1. The night before, peel, core, and chop your apples.
  2. Grease the bottom and sides of your slow cooker with butter.
  3. Add the chopped apples and cinnamon to the slow cooker.
  4. Pour in the water and 2 cups of milk.
  5. Gently stir in the steel-cut oats, ensuring they sit below the liquid line.
  6. Cover and set your slow cooker to low for about 9 hours overnight.
Serving
  1. In the morning, stir in the remaining 3/4 cup of milk.
  2. Spoon the oatmeal into bowls and add your desired toppings.
